Yellowstone National Park
We took our 2017 post-tax season trip to Bozeman, Montana. We took a day trip down to Yellowstone National Park. It was April so not all of the roads were open. It was a bit chilly but we saw several bears, buffalo, and even a few wolves with the help of some other wildlife viewers.

We saw a black bear not 10 minutes after we entered the park
A little early morning traffic
We tried to get to the Lamar Valley as early in the day as possible with hopes of spotting some wildlife. We weren’t disappointed.
If you look closely you can see a black dot along the ridge line. That is a wolf. My camera zoom wasn’t good enough to catch it, but some more equipped wildlife viewers let us look at it through their Swarovski Scope. After watching this one for 10-15 minutes they got a call on their walkie-talkie that there were more at another location. They told us to follow them. We arrived at the next location and using their scope spotted a few more wolves and a momma grizzly bear.
When we were at the airport flying home we stopped in a gift shop to kill time. I was flipping through a book on the wolves of Yellowstone. At the end of the book was a photo of the guy who took most of the photographs. It was one of the guys who let us use his scope to view the wolves.
The Yellowstone traffic is ridiculous
AbouAbout 50-100 yards off the road there was a black bear getting his morning meal via a buffalo. It was pretty gruesome but fascinating to watch.
